This is not a Cinderella Story

"No Regrets" is my potential title for my novel for Nanowrimo. It is most likely to change before the end of the month but I figure that it needs a name at least right now it does.
Anyway, here is the excerpt from the novel:

Hours later, Areli still found herself staring at the box that she had not opened in the last three hundred years or so. She could not bring herself to search through it. It would been mean going back. Going back to her old self, to her old life and to the society. She had made a rather loud exit last time she attended one of the meetings and she did not know how she could possibly go back now.
A sigh escaped her lips and deciding finally that she had built up enough courage stuck her hand in the chest. It took only a second for her fingers curl gently around an incredibly delicately thin object. She pulled out the perfectly pointed white stick. Immediately her entire appearance began to change. Her dull brown hair gained a luscious red sheen to it. Her dead grey eyes became a vibrate chocolate. Her light skin gained a literal magical glow. She could no longer go completely unnoticed by the world, she did not look human anymore. Her ears curled into a point and her eyes gained a slight slant. She could feel her wings trying to make their appearance, luckily, she had enough control to keep them under raps.

Hope you enjoyed!
